We pay more attention to what we have identified as relevant or threatening, and tinnitus can become much harder to ignore. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mechanism can be understood as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tinnitus \u2192 concern \u2192 increased attention to sound \u2192 greater perception of tinnitus \u2192 more concern.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This explains something that our professionals frequently find at Clinicaudio: the intensity with which a person suffers from tinnitus does not always coincide with the intensity with which they describe the sound.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some people with constant tinnitus have managed to get used to it and barely notice it for much of the day. Others feel that a seemingly mild tinnitus invades practically every moment of silence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, when we evaluate a case, we are not only interested in knowing the characteristics of the sound.
